Saturday 5th July brought a truly moving experience as members of the Dundee Bahá'í community joined friends from across the city's faith communities for the Faith and Belief, the local Interfaith organisation Pilgrimage Walk. This gentle journey through Dundee's spiritual landscape revealed the rich tapestry of traditions that quietly flourish in our city.
Beginning at the Al-Maktoum Mosque and moving through the University Chaplaincy Centre, our pilgrimage took us to sacred spaces that speak to humanity's eternal search for meaning. We paused at the Community Fridge on Miller's Wynd, a beautiful reminder that spiritual practice extends into acts of service , before visiting the inspiring St Andrews RC Cathedral and St Peter's Free Church, each telling their own story of devotion.
A particularly poignant moment came at Jennifer Ross's memorial bench. Jenny, a beloved young Bahá'í who passed at just 23, is remembered through a simple plaque bearing the words:
"In the garden of thy heart, plant naught but the rose of love."
This gentle reminder of love's transformative power seemed to capture the spirit of our entire journey. As well as learning about different places of worship, we got an opportunity to find out about each other and build friendships.
As we concluded at the Tayside Hindu Mandir, witnessing the warmth of interfaith fellowship, we were reminded that whilst our paths may differ, our destination, a more unified and peaceful world, remains beautifully shared.
With gratitude to the Faith and Belief the local Interfaith organisation for organising this enriching pilgrimage.
