On Friday, April 21st, the Baha'i community of Dundee gathered to joyfully celebrate the Festival of Ridvan. This sacred festival commemorates when Baha'u'llah, the Prophet-Founder of the Baha'i Faith, declared His mission in 1863 in the Garden of Ridvan in Baghdad. This momentous occasion is celebrated by Baha'is around the world as the "Most Great Festival" and the "King of Festivals".

Our festivities began on Friday evening with prayers, stories about the origins of this holy day, and a potluck dinner. Though we were far from the Garden of Ridvan, we were uplifted sharing this special time with fellow Baha'is over delicious food contributed by all. The spirit of unity filled the room as we recounted Baha'u'llah's proclamation and the significance it has for humanity.

A special part of our celebration was electing nine members to the Local Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of Dundee. This administrative council helps guide and organize the affairs of our community. We were grateful for all who stepped up to serve in this capacity.

On Saturday, families came together for more food, music, and laughter. The adults embraced the opportunity to deepen friendships while the children played joyfully. Watching the kids' energy and innocence was a reminder of the brightness of the future. We recognize that the work of building unity is a gradual process requiring patience and effort.

The Festival reached its pinnacle on Sunday when we gathered for a devotional program of prayers and songs. Voices blended in harmony as we read from Baha'i writings about the meaning of Ridvan. Our community may be small, but our voices are part of millions celebrating this occasion globally. We left the celebration spiritually refreshed and eager to continue serving with our friends and neighbors.

The joy of Ridvan stays with us in the days that follow. As Baha'u'llah wrote,

"This is that Springtime which the earth attains by the heat of the Sun of Reality when liberated from the icy cold of winter."

May the light of unity spread and warm hearts everywhere.
